LAST MAN STANDING

// poetry

Whom the cruel wind has battered
Ear splitting tides overwhelmed at their landing
Baffling the wits off the elephantine system
It’s the astonishing Last Man Standing.

Mixing mud into the “blue blood”
There was nothing to be fazed about “weak fading blue” after all;
When they’re busy finding some unkicked butt left for the chair
The Man with nothing to lose shall catalyze their fall.

It’s a bewildering myth
The idea of a man’s invincible tapestry
A little dash of salt on the right wound
There’s no superman, it’s only phony cape-stry.

To the barefoot the floor seems supple
The Last Man stands directly upon the coffin
The Creator wipes his tears and strengthens his back
He returns to settle scores with those scoffing.

When they fly like sparks
As a new fate is being welded in time
Hammered into a sheet of submission,
Meanwhile, Last Man Standing penned a quick rhyme.

When the night’s traversed the time of light
And when the creepers and reptiles begin banding;
With an old shovel he shall encamp against the treacherous
It’s the unyielding equitable Last Man Standing.
